Centaur Day

Since the release of my book “Centaur Stage”, I have been informed of some confusion between Centaur Day, a holiday mentioned in chapter 5 of my book, and Centaur Memorial observances which coincidentally both fall on May 14th each year.

So first, some clarrification on the nature of both events.

Centaur Day, as noted in my book, is our culture’s equivalent of Christmas, a grand time of celebration and gift giving. The date of May 14th is significant for us because it is fabled that the first Centaur was birthed on that day. Hence, it is a time of celebrating our existence as centaurs, and cherishing our loved ones.

May 14th also happens to be a day for remembering the lives of those lost on the AHS Centaur which was tragically sunk on May 14th, 1943. This is a solemn day for many humans who were affected by this tragedy.

At the time of writing my book, I was unaware of this unfortunate event, or otherwise I would have addressed this there. So I would like to clarify that our holiday “Centaur Day” has no connection to the Centaur tragedy other than the coincidence of name. Centaur Day is a holiday my kind has celebrated for ages, and it is not meant in any way to clash with or diminish the commemoration of the AHS Centaur and those lives lost. I would like to apologize on behalf of all centaurs for any confusion in this matter.

My encouragement to centaurs and all celebrating Centaur Day, is that in the midst of our festivities, please be mindful and respectful of those who may be observing other events on that day.
